i had to open the caliper valve today to push the pistons back. i did this and tighten the valve again. and it now takes about 2/3 before my brakes actually kick in. do i need to bleed the whole system again or is there a easy way round this??

Pistons should be pushed back in with the valve shut, as the oil returns to the open reservoir. Unless seriously overfilled.
So if no air has got in the system, you need to top up the oil level.0 -
i tried that but it just kept pushing itself out and was making contact on the outside of the rotor, so i tried it by opening the valve and about 3 ml of fluid came out and i tighten it back up.0

Pump the levers a few times. Is the old feel restored? If not, put the fluid back in.0

thats actually a bit better...thanx. its still not the same as the front brake, ill pull the brake and it will kick in at 1/3, the back is slightly better now that ive pumped it a bit so hope it gets sorted a bit. if i add fluid, does this need bleeding again? cheers, thanx for the help0

Not if you put in from the top. I think there is a service guide in the workshop stickies.
If the perfromance suffers on the trail, ie goes spongey when braking for long periods, rebleed.0
