Help needed , pre load on rock shox forks

Hi

Just purchased a specialized rockhopper as my first bike, on the rock shox forks there is button which you twist saying preload.. Cant find much info on what it does and how it works .. Can anyone help

    it sets the sag. by compressing the spring.

    What fork is it? Do you have a manual for it?

    If you do, read the manual, it will give you all the info you need. If not, visit www.sram.com, go to the service support page and download the correct manual for your fork.

    you'll get a lot of that :roll:

    preload kind of does what it says on the tin, it pre loads the fork, or stiffens it up at the start of the stroke and this sets your sag,

    less preload = fork sits lower when you are sat on the bike, more preload makes the fork sit higher when sat on the bike. for the most part, you will want about 25% of the travel to be taken up with sag.

    be aware that preload only allows for a little bit of adjustment and if you stil cant achieve the correct amount you will need a different spring.
