Prob asking too much but does anyone know of some decent tyres 2.2 to 2.4's for riding West Yorkshire mud, rocks and some dry soil but are also good to use on gravel. I've just worn out my Specialised Enduros which are brilliant on the trails but rubbish on manmade stuff eg gravel, Stainburn etc. Bought a Maxxis Ardent for front but not as good as Specs. I've got a Marin Wolfridge 2007 by the way. Cheers!

How are they with mud though? Deep black sucking stuff! Conti's always seem a bit shallow on the knobbly bits? As it's mainly muddy around here (Haworth) I want them to be good at mud with gravel 2'nd. How are they with that?

last week i did the leeds 50 with my xc fire pros 2.1 front and back and had no problems with the mud. and i also ride round stainburn on them as well they dont grip well on the boldertrail when its damp but i have not found a tyer that can.

dry tacky mud is the downfall of hte xc pros they can get clogged but its yorkshire we dont get dry anything.

Go for Maxiss Swamp Things 42a Tacky up front and a 60a rear tyre.
If nice n muddy or a 42a High roller front and a 60a Swamp thing on the rear.

If not to muddy but top soil mud and firm underneath go for the Schwalbe Fat Alberts
    fantastic grip and fast rolling

Not a fan with Mountain Kings they came with my AM bike and a pile of crock

Cheers for that. High Roller front and Swamp back sound good. Not seen Fat Alberts before but I'll have a look. Maxxis Minions seem to be getting good reviews lately, I'd need front and back pos for the extra grip going up, anyone used them? Do they roll OK?

I'll second that - absolutely corking combination for the wet stuff. Mine are going back on this weekend, can't see the trails round me drying up before next summer...

OK you've both convinced me. Do you have the 2.35 or 2.5 sizes? Cheers
