Student Back To Twickenham...Need Southern Routes!!

Hey Hey,
Just moved back to uni in twickenham and really want to know any good areas to take the bike.
i have no car but got good train transport links to the north and west of central london (south and east of london would be difficult due to not baing able to take a bike most places on the trains)
i'm looking for somewhere not tooooo far away, however i do have the benefit of student priced travel (30% off 8))....and dont really wanna have to "commute" after the train before reaching the trails...
I'm gonna be mising Grizedale North Face and Delamere etc and wouldn't mind knowing of some decent singletrack/xc down here.
also, if theres anyone round here that rides most weekends...gimme a shout!!!
