Jam Sandwiches? You'd get a sugar rush and some slower burning carbs. If you cut them up into bite sized pieces you can cycle without having to hang onto the sandwich and steer as well.
Alternatively, get down to the shops and buy some breakfast bars - I like the Jordans ones.A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject - Churchill0 -

Lashings of it. Keeps the chill out.0 -
Hey there,
My favourite long distance snack is a Cheese & Mayo' sandwich on wholegrain bread. And for dessert, a Mars bar or two. At 300+ calories a bar, they are just ace!
Cheers

Bowl of porridge is good for the shorter rides under 40 miles but for the big rides get a huge bowl of pasta with some pesto. On the ride go for banana and honey sandwichs (on white bread of course for high GI).0

A couple of Nutri-Grain bars are what I usually take.0

Oh yes Mr Bunn, I know how to spoil myself!
I always use crunchy peanut butter and strawberry jam.

On my debut ride the other week another cyclist I spoke to told me that for longer rides he recommends jam on toast. He said toast is better than bread as it breaks down quicker.
He also highly recommended dark chocolate digestive biscuit sandwiches. These are a chocolate digestive and a plain digestive put together so the dark chocolate forms the filling. He then asked me why he uses dark chocolate, but I had no idea. His reason was fantastic. He uses dark chocolate digestives because, I quote, “dark chocolate is more mysterious and that cyclists should always be mysterious”.0
