Columbia's first-year pro, Tony Martin, showed his inexperience and probably cost himself the stage win. He had set a new intermediate best time and looked to be on the way to set a new best at the finish, when he went off the course at an intersection, despite a guide waving him in the proper direction. He turned around quickly and went on the right way, but had lost too much time.

Crapping hell, I picked him!!

  • The marshall was like a wet weekend. Instead of standing in the road and directing him around the bend, he stood on the barrier. Cost him at least 10 seconds and the leader's jersey.
A pretty, but pointless prologue, with 50 riders within 5 seconds. Still Kitzbuhel looked nice.

Ditto. would have had stage 1, 2 and overall by the end of saturday if his noggin was screwed on right.
It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.
