I'm looking to buy a replacement derailer for my brothers bike. It's a 7 speed and I was looking at Shimano Deores but they all seem to be 8/9 speed.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm not techincally minded at all when it comes to bikes, I just know how to ride them! Heres the specs for the original chain set......
"Gear system 3x7 speed Shimano with Altus rear derailleur and Shimano trigger shift levers"
Any help would be much appreciated as I need to buy one ASAP (i've owed him one for months as it was I who broke it 8)) .
Cheers
P.S - I am fully aware of how s**t the bike is
It's my brothers and it's just to mess about on.

You can use a 8/9 speed derailer on a 7spd system.
I'd get the Alivio or Deore rear mech, in the same cage length as the last one (ie long)0 -
Is this any good? Says its long cage...

Although this one looked better (im assuming higher number means better quality), but doesn't say its long cage.

Which one??? :?0 -
The bottom one is slightly newer, with a stiffer body. Top one lighter though, and pretty much just as good.0

Is the bottom one long cage though? Doesn't say it is, and I thought I needed long cage... :?0
