  • I used to live in Abbey Wood, so can I suggest making your way from Dartford Station (as a convenient start point) along to Crayford passing the BT buildings in Thames Road towards Erith and then down the hill and along the lower road to Abbey Wood. Once there you can cut down the back streets (Abbey Grove, Brookdene Road) and then a short bit of Plumstead High St. You can then head towards Woolwich using the back streets to the south of the railway until you find yourself in Beresford Square. Then it is just a short ride to the foot tunnel by the ferry. From the north side of the river you can use Silvertown Way (quite busy) towards Aspen Way and Blackwall Basin which leads into Canary Wharf. I would think this would have a relaxed time of 90-100 minutes in the saddle. It isn't a particularly taxing ride, with few hills but some of the roads can get quite busy, but I can't see a way around that - although from Erith to Woolwich much traffic uses the relief road nowadays.
