Hi All - Just posting on behalf of a mate who's just received his shiny new GT Avalanche 1.0 08.

Its a boxed bike so setting up and tuning needs to be done.

One thing Ive noticed about it is the front brake line (Hyro brakes) is that its very tight/short to the front brake - there is NO slack in the tube at all and I fear there is excess pressue being applied to the join at the brake lever.

One off in the woods with impact to that brakeline and its a gonna!

Anyone else had this experience? - Is it worth speaking to the supplier to get a: New Bike b: New longer brake line?

Advice welcome.

Have asked him to MMS me a pic of it over.

If you can imagine a tight and very straight cable line from the right hand lever, straight across the fork and down to the caliper.

There are no cable ties holding it tight, so no room to slacken.

(I think Ive just answered my own question that this isnt right.....)

but the bars/levers may be incorrectly positioned.

A picture may help to see how tight it really is.
You wont be looking at a brand new bike for a slightly short cable!!
But i would imagine that it doesn't come as standard with super tight cables. You have to remember that its not going to be stretched at all when riding onl slackened when your forks compress.

I think that the problem may simply be that the cable/tube should run inside the fork and down to the caliper, as currently it rounds outside, will need to remove bars and reroute to see if that helps.

Its probably us being numpties, rather than a fault!!

was the bike from crc by any chance?

I have exactly the same bike and the same problem when i first got my avalance 1.0

    So did some others.

If you search for my posts you will see pics showing the same issue im guessing your having.

End result was i sent the brake hose and level back and they resent out one with a longer hose.

I'd replied to someone earlier that had the same problem. On my Avalanche 1.0 in a large frame that doesn't have any problem with the brake pipe length at 84cm if you want to compare it.
