My bike has got it's gear cables running down along the bottom of the down tube. Would a mudcatcher fitted to the downtube affect the gear changing if it was fitted there?

Cheers

it might. but it might not.

i have used a crud catcher on the down tube with down tube routed cables for years with Zero issues.

  • My specialized hardrock has the cables running down the underside of the downtube and I use a crud catcher. Hasnt affected my gear changing but the cable has been rubbing against the rubber bands holding the crud catcher on, so far its cut through the bottom band, almost through the top one also.

i reckon cable ties would do the job nicely tho i havent got round to getting any yet, was payday today tho :)

my bike has the gear cables down the underside of hte down tubes, i have used a cheap cable outer kit from wiggle and cut it down in to 1" long sections to bover where the straps deflect the cables and it works with out problems.

Cycra guard has rubber buffers that work as standoffs to allow cables to work unhindered

  • My Commencal has crossed cables on the downtube.. as mentioned previouly.. the Cycraguard has rubber spacers which work a treat.. the rear guard has a solid quick release as well..
