Trek 8500 or scott scale 30 ?

Hi,
looking at buying a new bike have kinda narrowed it down to these two would like to hear some feed back from exiting owners of either bike

    I love my older Trek 8500 so much I'm still using it as a SS second bike although I've had roadies / FS / etc as well.

    great frame. great great frame. (mine's the 2004)

    Flat Essex = no need for gears on a tow path.

    The best advice you can have.

    Ride both on the same trail/road/path wherever you can get your hands on them and make the call from there.

    Thanks for your thoughts guys but i test rode an ex demo 2008 scott spark 15 at my local bike shop and was blown away. Just got to pay for it now!
