Both are good bikes and good value.

Both are well-specced, with strengths in slightly different areas.

Do you value an adjustable fork? Do you think you need more than 100mm travel? Do you have a preference for Sram or Shimano?

I've never had an adjustable fork before, which would you say has the better fork?

I've got no real preference for SRAM of Shimano.. i've read good things about the genesis - how its designed for english weather - but to be honest i think both of the bikes rock!

I'm really stuck between them, does anyone have either of these???

The forks are the same model number, but the Amasa has U-turn so the length can be changed.

Can be useful for long climbs, but the max of 120mm might be better than 100mm if you were going to be riding a lot of rocky, technical trails.

Where are you going to be riding?

I like Genesis bikes a lot too, btw - very sensible looking bikes - and because they're put together by the company that distributes Shimano in the UK, you know you're getting a good value component mix.

Frame *could* be better on the Genesis, have you had a look at both bikes in the flesh and ridden them?

Does one feel lighter than the other?

Alas no, I havn't seen either in the flesh - according to the genesis website the core 20 weighs 28.5lbs which dos'nt sound too bad... god its a hard decision!

I really wont be doing super technical trails - i'm a novice, just want some fun XC trails and a bike that'll last.

What about other components? such as brakes and wheels/tyres? are there any glaring weaknesses amongst these two?
