New Forks/new bike?

I have meta 5 with fox f140s atm and im thinkin of upgrading them to some larger, thru axle ones to give more strength with my weight and lack of finese. Im lookin at either 36 float or van r as Im going to the US soon and due to exchange rate and taxes (lack of) they are like £100 cheaper than here. Im after advice as to whether it is worth the cash to change to bigger ones. I mainly use my bike for trail and fitness but I want to use it for bigger things (nothing over the top 4-5 foot drops, jumps etc) and am in two minds whether to jus get a more freeride style bike when I can afford it or whether my Meta will suffice with better forks, wheels etc. Advice plx.
