    hollowtec 1 or 2?

if 1 a normal crank puller but with the larger button end. if 2 none needed.

have a look at the info on Parktools.

    It must be Hollowtech 1.

The probem is that when I insert my old crank puller there is nothing for the spindle to purchse against as it is Hollow (pardon stating the obvious) all the way throught.

I was looking around the net and they talk about pullers with a mushroom on. I am not sure which park tool ( or any other puller) corresponds.

Also read else where that a dime fits and pruchase can be made against this. The american seem to have all the luck.

That's what you need, or Park make a specific crank removal tool for hollowtech cranks.

    Thanks for your help.

I telephoned Parker, who were really helpfull and suggested the Park CCP4C Crank Puller for Octalink and Shimano LX/105 Chainset Plug Tool, which I have just purchased.

I am hoping to transfer the BB/ chainset etc to a new frame having just broken in half my communter bike. I am hoping its not that difficult.

I feel really stupid, I rode in to a parked car, even worse I did it at speed. I have now have a broken nose and the face to go with it.

Mind you, you should see the mess I made of the car. Luckily I am in CTC, so the Third party insurance should cover it.... I hope.
