That's it.
Something small enough to fit on the bike, but loud enough so that deaf idiots in tin boxes know I'm there.

Is it loud enough to penetrate thick skulls?
Last week a woman decided to overtake me in a 30mph limit (Garmin said I was doing 27) coming up to a sharp right hand bend. When she realised she was on the wrong side of the road and couldn't see what was coming, she decided to pull over. . . . .
Glad to say the brakes on the Allez are working very well indeed.
She wasn't quite so impressed when I then overtook her (to ask if she actually saw me at all).Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

Apologies for taking the thread off topic somewhat and asking a bit of dumb ass question but I figure that's what cakestop is for...
Anyway, <ahem> what is the name of the 'old style' horn/klaxon that is sometimes used (more often on the continent) by the lead car in road races to warn people of the peletons arrival. Its a kind of rapid repeating doppler/yoodle(!!!) ?
(h'mm maybe describing sounds isn't my forte ...)

Exactly.
Found this one @CRC: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=20498
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Air_ ... Horn-4.htm looks like the battery (?) will weight as much as my bike. 115Db sounds like a good idea though!Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

The 'battery' is just a bottle of compressed air. It weighs, roughly, nothing.0

Great idea to have one of these chaps and much more effective than just a plain old bell. I take it they are legal .......... ? Not that it would bother me but just thought I would ask.0

I'm not sure they'd be of that much use - I'd rather yell than go reaching for buttons on my bike.
And when they do hear the horn - would they be looking at you, or looking around for the mystery HGV bearing down on them ?0 -
FCN 8 mainly
FCN 4 sometimes0 -
I could do with an air horn on the Plym Valley 'cyclepath' - the number of woolly socked walkers that say, 'You should get a bell' despite me having politely said excuse me and slowed down. I'm sure they just do it to wind mountain bikers up - it drives my mate crazy.0

at sainsbury's I bought a red horn for 30p that you hang round your neck and blow hard when you want. Very loud. kids at swimming galas had been driving me mad with them.
This was very noisy but I found that even as a signal within a ctc group it just got ignored.the one place it got a result was the high peak trail on a summer weekend
