Sick of waiting....

I would cut the story short for this post...
I applied for the Cycle2Wock scheme from Halfords since July and still I haven't got a bike!
The problem is that I have the budge of 800 pounds and planning to get a Boardman Comp MTB but because they are all sold out and the 2009 range is coming out late Sept to early Oct, i kinda forced to wait...ok, i could of go for another bike but the GT which i would like don't have my size (need 16" frame)
with no information of when the 2009 range Boardman is actually coming out, now i am sick of waiting and just want to go into the store to get a bike and i have make a shortlist:
Kona Stuff
Kona Shred
could anyone advice me which one would be the better choice out out those two bike or should i better just wait for the extra month?
the bike is mainly use for commuting and start off road as soon as im getting better with my cycling skill.. i know they are Dirt Jumping bikes but does anyone know how well they are for XC?
any advices would be appreciated.

As you say, not really XC bikes. You need to get a bike that suits you, and it is unfortunate the Boarmans have sold out.
Hang on and get what you like.0 -
But make sure your voucher doesn't expire in the mean time! If you don't know when it runs out, go and have a look now.
If you want a bike straight away, Halfords are dealers for a few brands that make XC hardtails - GT, Kona, Voodoo.
How much do you have to spend?0 -

i won't mind waiting if i know i can 100% get the bike in a specify day/week but i been trying to contact my local store but never get hold of the useful staff and other staff just doesn't have a clue....
in mean time i am commuting to work with my girlfriend's bike (she got a male Apollo Fenzy MTB about few years old) just to get used to cycling to work and loving it so far and so want my own bike now.Chaka Ping wrote:But make sure your voucher doesn't expire in the mean time! my voucher is expiring on the 14th of Nov so it should be ok for me to wait for the 2009 bike but as i said to Supersonic above, because i don't know when will i be getting it which is abit annoying.
the voucher value is £800 and i have made a shortlist of kits which i want to get (around £150 including the locks) so the bike have to be between £650 to £700-ish as i don't get any change back if i spend less that £800 with that voucher. i have looked at otehr XC bikes on Halfords website but they are all too big for me apart from the 2 DirtJump bikes and the Voodoo Wange :?: bike which will see me end up spending the whole £800 just on the bike.. :?"It is not impossible, its just improbable"

halfords should be able to get you any bike you want realy not just ones that they stock........ so that just opens a massive can of worms..... have a look at this new mtb uk issue as it has a 700-800 bike round up.Nothing in life can not be improved with either monkeys, pirates or ninjas

i feel your pain with the boardman bikes. I wanted the Pro version through the C2W scheme and ran into the same problems as you. The ultimate sting was that if i did end up waiting for the '09 version, the staff said it would more than likely be OVER the £1000 mark, meaning i wouldnt be able to get it anyway!
Sod that, i just got something else instead.0 -

my workmate got a CUBE bike via them and yes they can get any bikes as long as the bike company have retailer(s) in the UK but it took my workmate over 2 months to get his and when he received it, he gotta build it himself as Halfords no long build the bike (which they don't stock) for you. im too late now to try to get them to order other bike for me as my voucher would prop expire by the time i receive my bike..."It is not impossible, its just improbable"

i asked the guy at Halfords and he said that new range bikes would cost normally £50 more than the old range one. it would be fine for me as it would still within my voucher budge but it totally different story for you."It is not impossible, its just improbable"
