Loosening Left Crank

I bought a brand new Carrera Banshee 07 yeterday, and about an hour or so of hard pedalling, the left crank started getting loose and eventually coming off (I didn't have an 8mm allen at hand) I was just wondering whats the problem and hoping i dont have to replace something already Thanks in advance and sorry if it's all a bit vague

take it back and get Halfords fo fix it.

Hopefully you havent killed it. When you start to feel it loosening, stop riding!
