Tyre recommendation please

I've had many puncture-free miles on a pair of Gators but they are now too slick to be safe in the wet.

Is there anything better out there with tread for the wet, puncture resistance and good speed (I'm nervous about the pace loss associated with dropping to an 85 max tyre)?

What kind of bike are you on and what size tyres do you need? I switched over to Schwalbe Marathon +'s a few months back after a spat of punctures and have had no problems since. I'm currently running the 700x25c version and they seem quite good. They are a bit heavier due to the puncture resistance beading but I can't say I've noticed much difference in handling/acceleration/grip on my road bike whilst using them - either that or I'm just not that in-tune with my bike :-)

They have a tread on them so they disperse the water nicely and also have a scotchlite strip on the side wall meaning they light up nicely in low-light or dark conditions like the white bands on high vis vests!

I've just bought Continental City Ride 700x32c. They have a semi slick tread on them (slick middle and good tread each side)

They also have the puncture resistant finish and a scotchlite strip around the edge. I figured anything that helps stop punctures and makes me more visible has to be good.

Marathons are bombproof puncture wise. I ride gatorskins all year on all my bikes and have only had problems when off road in the wet.

I'll second the Schwalbe Marathon +'s.

Over a year of pot holed thorny back lanes and not one puncture!

    A no brainer for me!

Schwalbe Marathon Plus for an end to all your puncture woes. Can be a total bugger to fit into the rim, though.
