Shimano pins

Arghhh how are you meant to "snip" off the pilot rivet on new shimano pins? So far i've tried wirecutters, pliers, hacksaw. Next step is a nail file and a long long night. Step after that... "daaaad?".
The diagram just shows it being deftly taken off with the end of some pliers. If only...!
Help appreciated!

I don't use them but I think it snaps off. This is depending, of course, on it being
installed correctly. Next time try a "master link".

put the base over the pin and break it. pliers work as well.

You're lucky you got pins (or did you have to buy them separately?) The last Shimano chain I bought (from a well-known Edinburgh-based collective) had none supplied. The way the box had been sellotaped up looked as though someone had "borrowed" them for the workshop.
Anyway, as dennis says, use a masterlink, it is much easier.0
