I'm trying to convert my Carrera kraken to a single speed . So i ordered an dmr singlespeed kit with tensioner and a truvativ single speed crank . I was unsure of the type of chain to use so popped down to LBS for advice .They recommended a SRAM single speed chain , but on getting home discovered it does not seem to fit within the groove on the tensioning wheel. I have a part worn 9 speed chain that seems to fit in the groove but seems a bit to snug on single cog.
Is it okay to run a nine speed chain ? and/or is the chain supposed to be of a really snug fit on the rear cog? Has anyone out there fitted one of these kits ?
Thanks for any reply.

well is the Sram SS chain does not fit between the flanges. then it is 8/9 spd chain compatible.

I just wasn't 100% sure and needed someone to tell me that a 9 speed chain was ok.
