hello once again.
i have just bought a set of avid juicy five's from merlin cycles.they are fitted with 203 rotors i do alot of trail riding and single track so im not sure if they would benifit me or if i should reduce them to 185 or even 160.had them out in the rain and i thought they were getting filled with crud and grinding a bit due to the size...
iam at a point where i do not know what way to go can any one give some advice...
thanks..

About the size of the front rotor we can't help you. It's up to to decide if they are too powerfull or not. If you go over the handlebar fit smaller rotor, if not keep it.

About rear, I would say 160 is more than enough, unless you are a heavy person.

185 or 160mm will still get full of muck. There's no point in swapping 203s for smaller ones. Some people think that 203mm is overkill for UK riding, and they have a point; but if you have them, enjoy them.

Well, being a big fugger, I'd always opt for 203mm front discs.

Is your fork warrantied for 203mm rotors? Most people opt for 160mm rotors for XC or possibly 185mm front & 160mm rear as this will provide more than adequate stopping power. If you do change the rotors you'll need new adaptors as well.

Have you fitted them yet, if not you may find there are frame clearence issues as well.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
