    undo the bolt. it is just like a chain ring bolt.

    hi
    thanks for the reply...i've tried undoing the bolt but it just spins and so does the ring (with 2 slots in) on the back?!

    so stop the slot moving, just like you would with a chainring bolt.

    have a read on park tools and read about replacing chain rings.

    But is it that hard to stop it rotating?

    Put some penetrating oil on it - use a screwdriver and if that doesn't work use this;

    When and if you get the old one off, take it with you to LBS to get the new one. LBS is the best bet with this as some of the GT hangers are very alike with just some profiling on the reverse different.
    I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    When you do get it off go to your LBS and ask if they can get it in, plus find out the exact one it is you want. The compare prices with the shop and here:

    If the bike shop is a few quid cheaper it's still worth considering delivery time...
    I say that because my lbs is more useless than a squid is at mountain biking.. I waited 3 weeks for my frame hanger from them, gave up in the end and got it crc the next day.
