Rim wear
Hi, I need some advice about the rims on my Trek Pilot bought in 2007.
The bike has only had light use - probably done about 1000miles. It has Bontrager SSR rims. The rear rim braking surface on one side has a very definite 'step' along its outer edge. The rim on the other side is perfectly flat as are the rims on the front. I am not sure if the rim has been like that since I bought it or if this has developed over the last few months. I am careful with positioning of brake pads and brake set up. i use rim compatible pads. So, my questions are: has anyone else had similar problems? Is this an indication of wear or is this a manufacturing fault? Do I need to change my wheel? Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks. Anne S.
