Having been to swinley forest every weekend all summer i have really got the bug for mountain biking. I can't say i'm into the real hair raising DH stuff but enjoy most of the rides.
I have had a few knocks and bumps and feel now i have gotten used to the bike i could really do with some training in the basic skills of staying on the bike, descents and ascents etc,
Can anyone recommend a good course for learning some basics in the west london/heathrow area?

Get Mountain Biking seconded...I have also been on two of their courses. They are very good value for money. Also they go out of their way to help you with any extra bits and bobs that you want to know.
They do courses in Harlestone (northants) and Thetford as well although I guess Woburn is probably nearest for you. If you are up near Woburn, you are close to Chicksands as well. No training courses there but lots of fun stuff to ride - I have been going there since I started learning to MTB.
