Nearly finished Oz tour

I can't believe I've been here cycling nearly a year, but it'll all be over in a few weeks time!! (:<). Where did the time go? Maybe I'll go around again...

I was tempted to head that way when I first looked at Oz, but was warned off it as nothing but wheatbelt. Glad I took the Southern route!

Fair play mate, that's a helluva long way! :shock:

Have just arrived in Brisbane yesterday after cycling from Cairns. 33 days (incl. rest days etc). Total distance was 1,122 miles, but into the prevailing southerly it felt a lot further!

Looking forward to reading about your trip!

I was dead lucky with the SE wind, which helped me from south of Bris, all the way up to Cooktown, and then across to Port Headland. Then it started to go pear-shaped! The west is so unpredictable wind-wise.

Fitness-wise I could go around again, and I could still see new stuff I hadn't seen before, but I'm looking forward to reuniting with Lyn and seeing what comes next.
With hindsight the norrth and north-west of Oz has been the most rewarding for me. If I come back I'll ride the top road (Normanton to Boraloola etc) and Gibb River road but would get front sus and a BOB trailer.
Best things I've seen are Karajini NP gorges (utterly awesome!); Cape Tribulation (riding through the a green tunnel of trees, and Darwin (a great, enjoyable city).

about 2000 quid all told G, but I'll keep it open until the end of the year to try and boost that.
