Upgrading. LX or XT?

Having recently given my rat bike a new lease of life with some upgraded kit, it's now time to do the same for my wife's bike (Giant Iguana).
Firstly, we're talking front & rear mechs only, and possibly brake levers (already done calipers).
Second, I know price differences are small, we're probably only talking £15 to £20 more for both mechs (XT over LX), but is it really worth it for a bike that's never really ridden on much more than rough bridleways?
Thoughts?

Stick with LX - there's not a lot in weight difference, durability, etc. If it's not going to get used a lot why bother splashing the cash?0

Just looking at the zaskar carbon expert, thats a £1600 hardtail and its all LX, no XT.0

I'd stick with LX - or even Deore.
BTW, I have a brand new top swing LX front mech in my garage - which you can have for £10 including postage.0
