Mounted Helmet Camera

Hi I've posted the same question on the general forum and have been advised to post it on this one as I’d get a better response.
The question is: -
We want to put some of our outings on to a camera and post it to our web page for all to see, but no one in our group knows (or willing to put their own) of a cheapish robust camera to buy and duck tape to our helmets, whilst still giving the best action shoots.
Any advice would be appreciated
Many thanks

I bought the atc3k from action cameras. The lil tripod socket on the clip broke and they sent me a replacement in 2 days! 8)
The camera is ok - a bit limited field of vision but it reasonably aerodynamic. Sound is c*** though. Picturewise I got better results with my nikon compact but it wasnt as robust as the atc.
Some of the kit/cabled cameras are supposed to be pretty cool. I might save up and try one myself as some of them have a nice wideangle lens. :P0 -
I'm getting one of these ..................

You need your own video cam ( I'll put mine in a small rucksack ) but it produces quality video ( as good as your video cam normally produces ).
So, if you want cheap and cheerful in a self contained unit go for the atc3k , if you want quality video and have a light, quality video cam to plug into, then go for the video helmet cam.0 -

You dont even need the videocam thesedays - use a solidstate SD recorder like an Archos iirc. (I think even argos sell them thesedays).0 -

Godd idea, I've been looking at the archos kit for a while .... I know QVC do some decent deals .... might treat myself for xmas0 -
I was going to say something else but I've lost it now. Too early0
-
Cheers, they arn't as expensive as i thought. I guess the Archos would make more sense as it's lighter and uses less batteries.
Chrismas might come early!!
Cheers

I've just been told about the ARC 3K and even the ATC 5K with a screen built in, coming out in October.
This must be worth waiting for as the technology must of improved.

I've not heard about the 'ARC 3K' , but the only difference with the ATC 5K is the very small built in monitor which, if used , will only drain the batteries quicker, the rest of the technology will remain the same.
Still , I suppose it's worth waiting to see what the review are like.0 -
ARC? Did they mean ATC perchance?
The 5k is the same tech as the 3k model iirc but as Andy says it will drain the batteries with the screen, unless it can go into standby.
I was watching a couple of videos for this new 580 HQ camera (a guy called Magnatom on youtube has tested one out a little while ago) Now I think that might be the camera for me  8) Expensive though0 -

It looks exactly the same as the one I want from wiggle except it's 580 lines as opposed to 520.0 -
Here's a little vid about Dr Magnatom you might like to see.

Re: Archos , anyone thinking about linking both headcam and Archos need to checkout all the relevent specs, not all Archos gear will work with headcams ( ie: have the correct inputs )0 -

Quite a well known clip down here I'm told. All the cyclists I know have seen it. I even put a thing about it in my blog I think..0 -

The only thing is .... it's not something I will take out every ride ( which is what I really wanted ) because I like to travel light but it will do till technology can produce a quality self contained unit at a decent price , which wont be too long the way things are going.0

The general rules still remain though - eg more glass=better image and bigger sensor=less noise0
