Weird noise in crank region ?

Hi, Lately I have been getting a weird creak sort of noise in the cranks or pedals but it only seems to happen when I am pedaling hard or when I first get onto my bike and put all the weight onto a pedal to set off, the rest of the time it's really smooth.
I can sort of feel something through the pedals too when it makes the noise but am not sure how to describe it.
I only had it fully serviced last month and apart from a few minor things they said all was fine.
Could it be the bearings in the pedals ? I have taken them off the cranks and looked inside but I am not sure what I am looking for (they are DMR V12's).
I don't think it's anything serious just annoying when I am out riding.
