Funny for me, not for the driver :-D

I realised yesterday another reason why drivers should keep their distance! :D

I was keeping up with slow moving traffic going home, yet dispite this a woman drove around me on my right to try and get in front. I just took no notice ...until her front wheel hit a stone, the stone flew up and hit my frame ricochet off onto her passenger window.

She and her passenger gave me such a look, I think they thought I'd thrown something at them. No damage done though.

    oh dear

a couple of times i've been passing stationary cars and must have gone over a stone at just the right (or wrong, depending on your outlook) angle and had a stone ping out from under my tyre and hit their metal work.
Morning route (when i don't get the train)

    Evening route ,

The way I see it - nothing I can do about it  I'm usually good enough to avoid stones on the road, just not the ones shooting at me.

Bit like when the local council decide to blow the budget and tarmac every street. They have the "maximum speed 10 MPH" signs up, and the cars are still bombing around at 35/40. Think I have still got some embedded in my legs somewhere...they look like varicose veins, but they are not!

The best that has ever happened to me on the bike was going past a slip road, which a land rover had stopped at the end of to let me pass (my right of way, but nice nonetheless) a WVM came flying down the slip road, watching me, obviously thinking he would get out in front of me - noticed the landie wayyy too late and smashed into the back of him.

I stopped under the premise of being a witness, but really it was just to gloat over the daft see you next tuesday in the van.

Talking of stones it reminds me of a few years ago. I was cycling through Streatham on my mountain bike and went over a stone. It shot sideways and smacked against a shop window. It was so loud it was like a cannon going off!

I had a stone ping accident once, except it was against a rather nifty looking custom built car I was slowing down to admire as I road past :-) The stone made a rather nice thud sound as it hit the sheet metal side of the car. It was a fairly low sporty number similiar to a Catherham 7. The driver didn't seem to worried and I just carried on riding thinking how bloody typical!

Thinking about that it's actually one of the nice things about being on a bike, finding odd cars and having a chance to admire them :-) Saw a McLaren F1 near Elephant and Castle once, a Bugatti Veyron near Westferry Circus and a custom build F1 style car in Brixton which really stood out due to the bright orange paint job :-)

I'm sick of those bloody cars, it seems every person who has a bit of disposable income buys one!

As I keep saying.. when I was 3 years old Porsches were great! But the damn thing hasnt changed since - they have the laziest designers in the world, LMAO!

I usually see the silver carrera in bitterne, and sometimes a black one around portswood and shirley. The black one made me laugh because she (I think - long blonde hair) drove really close to me at speed and then panicked that there wasnt enough room to drive between parked cars and road works.
