After searching the forum I am still quite unsure as to what forks are going to be the best value for my money and I was hoping to get some of yr opinions....

I was hoping to spend around £200 but can stretch to more at a push.

I ride an upgraded 2008 Mongoose Tyax which has a 71 degree head angle , and at present a clunky 100mm travel Suntour fork.

For the riding that I'm doing I think I may benefit from a slightly longer fork (120mm or so) which from what i understand lower the head angle by a degree or two.

Any suggestions?

  • Tyax comes with 100mm so i replaced with a 100mm not sure about what it would have done to the geometry

Reba SL with poploc mate £200. I had one on my Mongoose which is now on the Marin

can your frame take 120mm forks (is it recommended by 'Goose)?

100mm = Rockshox Reba's ~£200 from Merlincycles.co.uk (some Reba's can be altered internally to 115mm, you would have to ask the seller if they can be)

Reba SL, you don't need more travel, you need better controlled travel, cue REBAs

you don't need more travel, you need better controlled travel,

This crossed my mind, as the current fork has little if any noticable adjustment.

After all these upgrades it makes me wonder how much I'd have saved if I'd have spent all that I've spent on this bike on an "off the shelf" bike lol.
