Sticking brakes

Hi, When I pull my brakes (shimano 105) the calipers tend not to return nice and sharply.
I have taken the cable off, and the levers and calipers seem fine, nice and tight. Could it be the cable, it does look a little manky?

    Sounds like it's the cable. Cheapest bit to replace so I'd suggest doing that and see what happens

    Thanks for that, it does feel like its the cable, but just wanted to make sure that there was nothing else that was obvious
