No recipe per se. Depends what you are using it for: post-training by any chance?

For mimnal packaging, minimum fuss, idiot-proof preparation and very low cost (even the organic variety) you cannot beat:

    A hard-boiled egg.

So what's your recipe for the energy bars?

When I was training hard for Ironman UK I used to make a milkshake after each session - two bananas, two tablespoons of SIS whey protein powder, made to a pint or so with milk and whizzed in a liquidiser.
  • Cheese. Cheese is the future! Loads of calories, loads of protein and it comes in handy block form!!!

    steak, straight from the cow.

If you have one waiting you can nom straight after training.

More seriously, raw eggs are brilliant...

I thought garlic bread was the future (Brian Potter's tasted it!)?

Hard boiled eggs....I feel queasy just thinking about them! Personally I'd favour Rob B's banana milkshake - as there were a load of raspberries in the fridge that needed using up, I had a post-ride fruit milkshake (courtesy of a Kenwood smoothie maker/blender) on Monday. Delicious!

I'm not sure how you'd form either of them into a bar, but protein (either whey or soya - see bodybuilding forums for arguements on which is best) is available reasonably cheaply from Holland And Barrett (it's often in the sale) and could presumably be baked into a brownie or something. I just go with the milkshake options myself, augmented with Soya protein and banana when I'm training hard (which isn't very often at the moment...)
  • Soya is currently going through the "actually its bad for you" mill. APPARENTLY.

Steak is the best but Im sick of it so am on Tuna or whey powders.

Also half remember something about heating whey protein destroys it (but cant remember where or find it now).
