adding shimano 105 5600 to bike

Hi
is a Shimano 105 5600 rear mech compatible with a Tiagra 9 speed set up ? ie can i replace the tiagra rear mech with the 105 ?? or will it only work with a 10 speed set up?

The width between the cage plates might be slightly narrower on the new 105, but I think the difference in chain width between 9 & 10 speed isn't much at all.
