It's only a Sprint distance but you've got to start somewhere.

I also have an 07 FSR XC Comp but it is limiting on the road.
I know the feeling. I borrowed a road bike for my first Tri (Aug 07).

Got me hooked - had to buy a road bike then.

Going to have a go at a 'proper' one next year

Cheers for all the input, Sheepy, like the look of that (especially the little bar ends for some strange reason  ).

I like the comments about using the road bike for getting fit for proper biking. Having commuted a couple of times already on my hardtail I like the idea of getting the extra road miles done in a useful way but I can't see me riding much road for pleasure, I'm not the world's greatest off road rider but I do get much more of a kick off road.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

glad to help jon, the bike is plenty fast with its slim tyres and road gearing and its pretty light (but not as light as a proper full on road bike)

the bar ends are soopoib, very comfy indeed. cane creek ergo ends or summat. i find its the best of both worls and the position is almost exactly like my mtbs., that said, i do wanna buy a proper road bike soon, so this might be going up for sale.

I like both, but use the roadie more because I got out on my own at the evenings.

I like MTBing with friends, it's safer too
