been looking at powerlinks this evening as could do with a spare but have got a little confuzled!! (bare with me i am Cornish after all!!)
some places have them at 99p and some at upto £3 each! and one lace has them at £10 for 4! (now the kmc ones are a bit more pricey at around £2 a pair but all the descriptions for them say its a pair or more! easy! but for the Sram ones there is no description helping me!
now, stiff for example have them at 99p but what i want to know is that is that a pair of links or just one side?? doesnt seem to say!! a couple of places have them at 99p a side!
if anyone can clear it up for me i would be muchly appreciated!!!

99p is almost certainly only one. I suppose it's possible that there are two but SRAM seem to sell individually so...Go on.... splash out by 2 @ 99p then if by any luck they are double you will have four links (2 pairs) and will have only "wasted" 99p
If you only buy one (and it really is only one) then you will have only half a powerlink and your chain will keep falling off0 -

thats what you want, that is two sides for that price,0 -

i've given in and ordered soem kmc links instead!! (match the current chain)
partly because they are definately sold in pairs and also because all the places i tried today want £2-3 postage on a couple of pairs of links!!! seemed a bit silly! so back to good old wiggle!
will ask the guys in my lbs on sunday when passing to clear my mind about them though! hahah!
ta for all the help!Timmo.

I don't rate the SRAM ones anyway, even though they appear to be a direct copy of Sachs' old ones, they don't hold as well. I've had 3 of them go west, so I've resorted to using my ancient (10 years old  ) sachs one on a wipperman chain.0

It's a pair of links, a powerlink = two sides. One side would be about as useful as a chocolate teapot, no idiot would sell like that. Got mine on ebay 99p0

Well... they do.... http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/SRAM_Spare_Connecting_Pin/5300003847/
Actually the description is very clear if you bother to read it "SRAM Spare Connecting PinSingle plate only. If you require a complete joining link you will need to order 2 "
At Wiggle, and most other places they are 99p EACH. First time I bout some I bought 3 (thinking like you that they must be in pairs) expecting 3 pairs... and I got 3 powerlinks... ie 1 and a half
Now I know :twisted:0 -
wiggle is the only place out of akll my favorites (about 20- 30 bike places online) that states that it is a single side of the link! the rest just say powerlink! so hencethe question!!!Timmo.

Sorry, don't mean to sound like criticism.... I think it is bloody stupid to sell one only, just that there are plenty that do ---- I got caught.0

added to my fav's now too1 ta!
does seem a little stupid to sell half of a pair of items when you need both for it to work!! but i suppose if they get sent them singularly then why not sell them singular!
maybe its to make you think!!!!Timmo.

Why didn't you just head off to ricci's he sells sram ones at £3 a pair though i know you went for the kmc one in the end.
Did you find it fun removing the connector?
How you getting on with the chain anyway, haven't ridden my bike for an age, may nip out today if the weather holds. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

dazz, chains great matey, really impressed with it! qual;ity is great too! super smooth shifting and verty silky feeling! Very good! Smokes the shimao chains!
the kmc links i got were only £2 a pair (well info said, pack of two, so am guessing its a pair! if not i'll have 4 complete links loL!) and th eone that came with the chain was super easy to use (used to have something very similar Donkeys years back i got from halfords i was 16 at the time!! so makes it 14 years back! eeek!) so figured in the end, stick with what you know! etc.!
the connecter's quite easy to remove, but you know me and my bike cleaning!!!!Timmo.

Out of interest, are there any compatibility issues with different chain manufacturers using different links, eg SRAM Powerlink with Shimano chain, or KMC link with SRam chain etc?0
-
KMC ones fit all 9 speed chains according to the packet so would havr thought the same for Sram ones,
the kmc ones also seem to come on a card of 2 as well! rather than sold single sidedly lijke it appears a lot to the reatilers do for Sram ones!Timmo.
