Has a silver lining...
Following the theft of the Gollum Bike (RIP), some wrangling with my insurance company, and an excellent recommendation by Jashburnham, I will take delivery of a slightly customised Giant Bowery tomorrow...
Exciting!

Here we go what should be a sensible (?) thread descends into an endless array of ring jokes and questions about 4 inches making a difference!
Anyhow glad to here you've got it all sorted so quickly, we look forward to hearing many tales of the scalps claimed aboard your new steed!0 -
I know...it's never ceases to amaze me that when we're trying to have a perfectly mature and sensible conversation about expanding ones ring, someone comes along and has a poke at it.
I mean, if I went around poking at people's rings and making suggestions that they should have it made bigger to give them more inches to enjoy, do you think they'd put up with that?
I can't imagine anyone being too happy having people poke at their rings uninvited without so much as a by your leave.
I know I'm happy with how many inches I've got, and LiT has always been clear that she likes lots but whether you like it or not is up to each individual and for no one else. Just because having more inches makes it a lot stiffer to pull off it is still purely a matter for personal taste

Another classic example.....I really should stop reading these threads at work, people are giving me funny looks as I'm convulsing for no apparent reason :-)0 -

Fantastic Lit.
88 is still massive. I hope you get a decent lock or ground anchor.
I'm also a motorcyclist and many people use Oxford locks and chains.

I am planning to somehow suspend it from my wall in the most space-saving manner possible. It will rarely leave my sight...
What do people think about hanging it by the front wheel?0 -
Great new LiT - glad my recommendation was justified. I'm keeping a close eye out for Gollum - I hope we all are, can't be too many of them in London so cue some D Lock justice, although having to pedal your ferocious ring is probably punishment enough!

Might wanna get down to ur local Lidl's:

I managed to get one of the ceiling mounted one's last time so I store my bike like so:
You'll have to excuse the wall, we where in the middle of decorating :-) This one was rated for upto 20Kg (the Giant is 9.7Kg according to their figures.....) - not that I would try hanging that much off it, but it's seems plenty sturdy enough for my one!0 -

D-Lock justice: If I see someone riding it I'll bash them on the head with a D-Lock...
And they won't be able to run because their legs will be jelly...
I did actually walk home from the tube in a very indirect route to check out the parks and various other bike-y areas in Ealing, but no joy. Maybe I should check any skips!
And thanks again for the recommendation... You should call your mate there and demand a commission!0 -
