I have a Carrera Banshee 2007 model and have only added hydraulic disc brakes. I am wanting to upgrade the accessories on the bike, including new rear spring to firm back end up, new tyres, bar and stem set, pedals, chain guide. I have approx £250 for this and am wanting advice as to what components could be added for the money. Also what size spring should be added and should i go as high as 450 lbs or will this be too stiff.
All help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

What spring do you have at the minute, and what shock? Also what sag are you running?0

everything is standard apart from brakes, its a suntour fork on front which i dont want to change and the rear shock is standard0

I mean what weight spring (should be written on it), and need to know what sag you are getting. And your weight!
As for the rest, if it works wel, I'd only upgrade when they break.0 -
the spring weight is not on it, not sure how much sag and i weigh about 15 1/2 stone. Would an air shock be any better than coil.0

I think so. You would be able to set it up exactly as you require.
You need to make sure you get the right eye to eye length (you can measure this between mounting holes on the existing shock) and sroke length (ask Halfords).0 -
Only upgrade them when they don't work... If you don't "need" to upgrade anything then don't. If you're wanting to buy a chain-guide it sounds as if you want to do some free-ride or downhill. Might as well save your £250 and save until you can buy something else that you don't need to upgrade0
