Broken saddle

After today's ride I was just lifting my bike onto the workstand by holding the bars and back of the saddle when it just came apart, the saddle that is. At fist I thought the saddle had come of the rails but both have sheared at the point where they emerge from the rear of the seatpost/saddle clamp.
I've since recalled that I felt some play quite recently but didn't pay enough attention at the time obviously.
Tomorrow is a no ride day so I can hopefully have a replacement delivered by friday. I was going to buy a cheap model to tide me over as I hope to replace the whole bike very soon but have managed to justify a more expensive one on the basis that I can get the new machine sans saddle thus saving money and I will have part of the new bike earlier than expected.
Of course I'll gloss over the fact the the old bike will be without saddle but there we go.
