Hi all,

I have seen advertised a while ago a tri or quad spoke on ebay that said it had interchangable axel so it could be used as a front or rear wheel.

Are these readily available from anywhere?

Reason being i would like a tri/quad spoke for the front wheel, and when its windy use that on the back, and use my current 40mm front

Any downsides to them? Are they a lot heavier being meant for the rear wheel?

Thanks

Will

Some of the original disc and tri/quad spoke wheels had that feature e.g. Mavic 3G it was easy to achieve as hubs too screw-on sprockets or freewheels but becomes a lot more difficult with a freehub. AFAIK I haven't seen this feature on a new wheel for a number of years and particularly anything that takes a cassette hub.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

  • The HED & Specialized tri-spoke front wheels can be changed to a track rear (i.e screw on threaded.)
Recipe: shave legs sparingly, rub in embrocation and drizzle with freshly squeezed baby oil.
