I lilke reading what you guys have to say and I was near to getting a helmet but hadn't done it.

I fell off, early Sunday morning and cracked my skull and spent a couple of days in Hospital. I have concussion and I feel really ill with awful headaches and dizziness, so I could kick meself for not getting a helmet as I've only myself to blame.

I'm a fool .. just thought I'd let you know.

but if you had a helmet on you could of had a rotational brain injury and ended up dead...

(ducks of cover as he feels another helmet debate comeing on)

Well i guessthe time off work will give you time to interent shop for a new helmet.

Good to hear that you are on the mend and out of hospital. Did you have to fight to get out?

when i broke both my feet i have to beg the marton to let me out after a week as i just could not take it any more. Leeds hospital where doing a run on tummy injections every day to stop DVTB if you where bed bound. Took over a day to get my perscription from the hospital.

  • funny that Baboon, as I had a similar reluctant nurse when I was in the LGI a few years back.
I had a broken knee and had to prove I could go up and down stair on crutches before they'd let me go.
2st attempt was not good enough and without attempt number 2, I was sent back to bed for another day!
3 attempts at a gold medal in the olympic high jump is far too easy, I say!

Lesson learnt I guess. A helmet is second nature to me now. I once found myself wearing it as I climbed into the car to drive to work (a rare occurance), in fairness I hadn't had my normal three coffees. I was knocked out when skiing once - couldn't remember where I lived or anything...scary stuff. I was hoping to get flash backs to 'Nam but it never happened. Anyway, get well soon - all the best.

Crikey! Sorry to hear that! Hope you heal up soon.
  • Hope your head heals and you make a full and swift recovery.

I got knocked off going at about 23mph by a white van man, whacked my head on the tarmac and used it as a pivot for what the cyclist behind me said was quite an impressive somersault, I got lucky and suffered only grazes. You'd think I'd have learnt from that, but I continue to surprise myself...
  • Get well soon and get a helmet, you will not regret a helmet but you may regret not geting one.
I remember stories yeras ago from people against wearing seat belts in cars - they would tell of people breaking collor bones / ribs / shoulders in crashes due to the seat belt. Of course without they would have gone through the windscreen!!!
