  • The best advice I can give is buy the Ordnance Survey Explorer map OL21.

This covers the West Yorks/East Lancs area and shows some fantastic bridleways.

Around the Aire valley there are a number of places including Baildon Moor and Stairs Lane by Oxenhope near Keighley

Im from castleford and tbh its hard to find local riding thats any good but newmiller dam has some good stuff plus a few lads have been building some small jumps in the top woods. Also a little village called wentbridge just off the A1 theres some woods heading towards darrington where theres some trails jumps and short dh runs for a play. Temple newsom has the DH/slaom track that MTB leeds built and some fun stuff in the woods.
But if you want managed trails get youre self to stainburn. Red and black routes and the the descent line is awsome. Dig days are the first sunday of every month if you want to meet the guys and gals to have a chat(www.singletraction.co.uk) for info.

Heres a few places with descent riding

    1. Newmiller dam car park - if you head up the path along the dam side you will reach a bridge heading over to the otheriside on the left and a steepish uphill to the right. head up the hill and when you reach the top turn left down a path and you will reach a hardcore fireroad head left and about 200m or so if you keep looking left you will find the jumps/playarea. Worth an explore round that area as well some fun dh and trails ive marked it on my crappy map as Number 2

    3. This is some woods near nostell has a few jumps etc in if you fancy it. take a mate tho !

    4. The woods around wintersett looks like it could have some potental in i havnt had chance to scout it out properly yet

This shows the woods in wentbridge

only small but have an explore! roughly in the middle is where the dh runs and a line of DJ are.
  • HiI have been mapping some the routes I have been doing
have a look on my website
    http://www.bradfordbiking.co.uk/

this may be a decent one to-do just do it backwards otherwise you will be pushing up the hills http://www.bradfordbiking.co.uk/2008/08/bank-holiday-ride/

There not really DH but some may take your fancy. I will be adding more as time goes by.
If you know of any routes let me know and I might map them out and place them on the site.
  • this may be a good place to try

give the black run a go.
