I'm after some toeclips or Powergrips, i dont want SPD's or whatever as the cost will then increase x10 fold....that maybe be one for the future.

Anyway can anyone recommend a set of toeclips for a size 9 foot or should i just buy some of the Powergrips?
Cheers, Stu

I used to use Powergrips years ago (before SPDs were invented!) - they were pretty good but it was hard work to get your foot in the exact same position every time which I found a pain.

Go on, get some clipless - you know you want to....

Explain clipless and SPD to me, are they the same thing? Or does SPD stick out on the shoe and clipless sit in a recess in the shoe? :?

SPD (Shimano Pedal Dynamic I think) is Simano's clipless solution but SPD tends to be used to descibe all clipless set-ups (a bit like hoover became the generic term for a vacuum cleaner).

Clipless, simply because the system doesn't use toe clip and strap.

All systems use a cleat that fixes to the bottom of the shoe and some form of spring mechanism on the pedal. Most cleats will only work with their own system, so you can't use Crank Bros cleats on Shimano pedals or vice versa.

    Thanks for that. :)

So what is the difference between these recessed and non-recessed shoes/systems? Or have i dreamt that?!

EG i would want a system i could use the shoe to walk in without a big cleat sticking out the bottom!

The non recessed systems are purely for use on road bikes, MTB systems use recessed cleats in shoes you can walk about in easily.
