Hi,

I have these hydraulic disc brakes:

After getting halfway round the Marin i began to hear a hideous squeel type sound coming from my rear axel / brake area.

After some faffing i managed to establish that the tyre spins freely, brakes are applied, tyre doesnt spin freely anymore! I spoke to the guys in the Betws y Coed Bike Shop and they said that it may just be gunked up. After some cleaning and degreaing they are nice and shiny but still have the same problem. It seems as if they just dont 'ungrip' the disc enough when i release the lever.

I just hope that if i fix this the noise will go and its not bearing etc

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Cheers :]

wheel out, pads out and clean?

strip it and make sure there is nothing stopping the pads/pistons retracting.

is it both padcs catching or just one?

  • i gave them a mega clean and they still rub. From what i can see it looks as if both are rubbing as if the pads just dont dis'engage from the disc. Disc and wheel dont seem buckled either

    Il have another check anyway
