Getting a road bike soon...

What tools will i need and what kind of things will i have to do for general matenence, such as oiling the chain etc.

I am very inexperienced in this area, so any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks but what does standard mantinence consist of? for example i come back from a ride, then what do i do to my bike?

    Generally, you'll want to clean your drivetrain regularly - in particular,the Grit on your Chain, Chainrings and Cassette - remove it (with a rag/tissue), clean your bits (with a degreaser or soapy water), let dry, then oil your chain - something like FinishLine Cross Country is an adequate lube for oiling your chain - there are others.

    Pre-ride checks are important, in particular, check for play in your headset/forks/frame interface - are the stem bolts tight etc etc.
