Hi,
I've been riding regularly for the last 2/3 years, and have seen my ability/fitness increase dramatically. This has all been on a MTB..my current bike is a RockHopper Comp.
Anyway, I'm a bit of a speed freak, and am very interested in all this road riding/inside track events. Is there anywhere you would recommend to go to start? E.g. are there any track days where I could borrow a bike and just have a go?
Hope someone can help, and thanks
James

Which area do you live in James ? There's three indoor velodromes in the country (Manchester, Newport and Calshot) and numerous outdoor ones.
As for road racing, your best bet would be to join your local BC affiliated club

Thanks for the reply.
I'm in Newbury, Berkshire.
I'll have a look at that link, see if I can find anything. Meanwhile..if anyone else can help?
Thanks0 -
From what I know of it Newbury Road Club is a good one. I would think that would be a great place to start for the road riding/racing.
And from Newbury it shouldn't take you long to bomb down the M4 to Newport's Velodrome:

Go along and try a taster session. You hire a bike for some nominal fee and they tell you what to do and before you know it you'll be flying round imagining you're Chris Hoy. It's very very cool. 8)

There's also an outdoor Velodrome at Palmer Park in Reading.

Looks as though they hold a road bike training session there on a Tuesday evening, should be a good place to start.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
I should add that I'm 17, so getting anywhere either involves me cycling there, or convincing the parents to take me (the latter doesnt usually work)
However, I have started learning to drive, so it shouldnt be too much longer before I can get myself around the country....hopefully!!0
