Ok, Out for a casual ride, slight tapping noise coming from the crankset area every few pedals.
Just getting home for the enjoyable 100m Stupidly steep hill and the slight tapping noise become a bit more significant and on every pedal.
Ive got a rockhopped Pro Disc 08 model with shimano crankset.
Any ideas on what it could be Its a new bike and im lacking the know how to self diagnose.

Could be one of 20 things!
Best bet is to visit Park Tools and find their article on Drivetrain Noises. Has a guide to diagnosing and solving.0 -
Hah, and there was me sitting there thinking, Hmm only one person on wonder if they can help Nice one Im looking now0

Process of elimination! You'll get there!
Sounds can travel through the frame, and be something a lot different to you expected. Once took me an hour to find one, totally perplexed. Was a bit of excess cable rubbing on my shoe, ha!0 -
Haha.
Looks like thats my sunday sorted0 -
Well it wasn't too bad for a sunday's work.
Wen't for another nice easy ride, the noise got worse, but i was able to pin down the problem to happening On the push stroke on the right crank at about horizontal.
Got the bike home, leaned again my trusty garden table had a look and there is a load of gunk and muck between the pedal and the crank/pedal nut. The pedals I have are Shimano PD-M505 Which come as standard with the Rockhopper Pro. Got a fine toothed brush cleaned out what i could, used some pink bike cleaner and threw some chain lube in there and its allll better now from what i can hear, obviously depending on how it goes on the next casual ride0
