Pretty sure the frame is only for 100mm forks. What sort of riding do you do on it, do you thrash it? Are your wheels disc ready?0

The Reba SLs for £199 from merlin can't really be beaten at the moment, very good, adjustable 100mm forks.
Quad brakes are apparently good for the money, and Avid and Shimano brakes are always a safe bet for value and performance. If your wheels aren't disc ready you'll have a problem though.0 -
Thanks for the information i was looking for the information on my frame howver found differing stats stating 100mm to 140mm forks, i ride xc and tend to push quite hard. My wheels are disc ready but i am running shimano mechanical disc brakes which are pretty useless, the bike was such a bargin though and has served me well so far but now needs serious upgrading to cope. I'd recommend a Revelation 409 Air U-Turn which can be had for £250, shop around and you may save more due to the new models imminent arrival. You'll save a chunk of weight over the stock fork and you can also wind it down to for the climbs to stop it wandering. I highly doubt the HR will handle 140mm but should be ok at 130mm on the downs.
Brake wise I'd recommend a set of Hayes Stroker Trails which can be had for £139.95 from Merlin and IMHO out perform anything of the same price.
OR
Buy a set of Recon 351 U-Turns from Merlin which are only 200gms heavier than the Rev for £169.95 and then buy their Mavic Cross Ride and Hayes Stroker Ryde brakes for £180.45, less than your budget and set of new wheels!
I'd go for the latter.0
