"pinned" rims?

recently i was surfing chainreactioncycles.com for sum new rims after mine got broken, and i came across sum funn rims, with the same model number, however, 1 was described as a "pinned" rim and 1 as a "welded" rim. this is also the case with some sun ringle rims.

What is a "pinned" rim and a "welded" rim?
