Hi All,

If i can get a day pass from the Wife i hope to get to Llandegla this Sunday and ride the beginners route. Any tips or advice that i might need would be very much appreciated, as i haven't been there before.

Cheers,

Steve

ive been a few times and thought it was ace, dont be too afraid of the place, its not as hard as you might think, it is tonnes of fun though, just be prepared for a taxing but not hard climb at the start then have fun, i would deffo recommend having a go at the red route.

even the black bits arent so tough, it can all be rolled over ( i tend to do it with my brakes on almost full so i am nice and slow  )

Just watch out for parts of the trail that have been churned up by the machines cutting the trees down.

And watch out for the wild lions.

What's that got to do with Lions? Apparently, a load have escaped from Colwyn Bay mountain zoo, and are playing on the jumps in Llandegla. (really!)

What time are you planning on getting there? I'm off to Llandegla on my lonesome on sunday so I can give you a tour of the red if you fancy it? When I was first learning to ride this time last year, I got blagged into doing all the red/black and it's not all that bad (apart from one of the black climbs)

Llandegla is a laugh wet or dry. If you find the green is too easy (should take less than an hour for someone with basic skills i.e. pedal and steer) have a dabble at the blue. Not severe but pushes you a bit and makes the bacon taste even better.

    Hi Guys,

    Thanks for all the info.

I hooked up with STE_T and he showed me around, thanks Steve. I had planned to do the blue but ended up doing the red...took a wrong turn!!

There were a few scary parts that i found quite hard but managed them at a much slower pace. There were also a couple of parts that i just plane bottled it on and walked it. Missed another turn about half way round and ended up doing part of it twice, so all in all it took around 3 hours to complete. I was propper knackered at the end. I couldn't enjoy the last mile or so, as my energy was gone. Great day out though and will do it again soon, as long as the Wife lets me out!!
