`ghetto sealing` on Conti Mountain Kings

Having a nightmaretrying to seal these tyres on my Mavic 719`s with a Joes No-flats kit. I was running Bonty tyres (TR) and they sealed straight away but the MK`s are still leaking after 3 weeks.

They will stay inflated for a few hours before dropping over 12 hrs down to 12 psi (from c.35). I`ve added more sealant (now c.200ml) and its made no difference. In a water bath they`re is no obvious big leaks or air-bubbles but always a few pin-pricks of sealant on the side-walls. Ive tried shaking the wheels repeatedly. I`ve left the wheels horizontal for days at a time but to no avail. The MK`s are the Protection version and are brand new.

The options are -

Keep persevering
Bollox it and fit a tube
Fit a tube with some sealant in the tube
Fit different tyres
Add a different type of sealant - possibly something with a thicker consistancy

Its really p%ssing me off - I can ride on the fully inflated tyre for an hour with no ill-effects or pressure drop, but I`m very wary of hitting a decent bump in case its a flat & off !

Any advice ?

Anyone had problems running Conti`s `ghetto` ?

Not very helpful now I know, but I've used Specialized and Schwalbe with a Joes kit fine. The Schwalbe were hard to seal initially, I couldn't seat the bead properly on the big 2.4" with my track pump. The Specialized were both very, very easy.

Once up both have held really well, about 30 minutes of repeated repumping, spinning and leaving on their side and they were sealed. Both standard, non-UST tyres.

I had heard tales of people managing with Contis, I'm not sure if it's specific compunds that don't work very well?

Oh and ghetto tubeless is normally when you use a smaller innertube in place of the Joes rimstrip. I'd be careful what alternative you use as well, some can eat through sidewalls. It's a shame you're having problems, it's good stuff. Mine has stayed in liquid form for over 6 months inside a tyre much to my suprise.
